1 Nephi Chapter 6

Lehi’s family from that line
Of one Joseph of colors fine
Joseph sold in slavery
Son of Jacob and bravery

Precious things to write in gold
Nephi wrote and God controlled
Inspiration leads the way
Nephi knows what God does say

Simply said the plates are made
For mankind to teach and persuade
Tell the people who is God
Learning of the Iron Rod

All the things which Nephi wrote
Giv’n by God that we may quote
These are truths, which we must know
We must know which way to go

1 Nephi Chapter 4

Nephi trusted God would lead
With this faith he did proceed
He was led to Laban's side
Nephi knew he must decide

Yet the Spirit bade him think
For without the plates, the link,
Precious teachings never taught
He must find what he has sought

He must slay this wicked man
He could stop the Gospel plan
There are laws which they must know
Nephi worked to make it so

Nephi dressed as Laban had
Then he found the scribe, a lad
He sent Zoram for the plates
They walked out, right through the gates

Nephi's brothers ran in fright
Then they heard his voice outright
Zoram ran and he was stopped
Giv'n the choice, he did adopt

1 Nephi Chapter 1

Nephi's parents taught him well
Faith and love-his heart to swell
Lehi followed God's command
He was chosen as God's hand

Lehi warned the people fast
But his happiness won't last
None believed his words as true
Though the Lord told him to do

Nephi knew his father right
So he followed father's light
Though the people spoke and scorned
Lehi's fam'ly left, and mourned

God shows mercies to his all
Lehi knew he would not fall
As he trusted in the Lord
Lehi's family gained reward

Hands

A child's hand does grasp it's mother
As the mother cries and smiles
Her baby born at last through pain
Yet worth each pain is found her son

A mother's hand does lift her child
Just a step, but soon one more
The child walks, and father smiles
Proud of his dear baby boy

A friendly hand is offered soon
As the child grows up tall
He must find his place in life
With the friends he meets and makes

A simple hand that offers love
Gently give to needing ones
He can save them from their pain
Feed them, clothe them, heal the wrongs

A loving hand does hold a ring
A simple love that hopes for "yes"
When it comes, relief is shown
A kiss to seal them to each other

A giving hand is offered now
To the wife who bears a child
Soon a miracle of life
Continuing the path of growth

A serving hand is always there
Leading, guiding, all through life
Once discovered, never leave
Righteous living brings them joy

A wringled hand does clasp another
Age is seen through change of skin
But with love the young holds old
A simple joy is sprung from here

A wrinkled hand that clasps another
The other's hand is smooth and white
In the lifetime of the former
Service, love and joy were shared

A dying hand is full of joy
For he knows the Lord is near
Waiting to embrace at last
Beloved child, son of God

The Savior's hand is always here
For all those who reach back out
He has cared for all of us
Loving brother to us all

All of us area simple hands
Serving God with all our hearts
Charity, and faith in him
Help us to return back home

All through life we see God's hands
Miracles to combat wrongs
When we serve we give love back
God will share our love with care

Background Story:
As I was holding my older adopted Grandma's hand, I looked down, and saw my hand, a young, unmarked hand, holding a wrinkled, aged hand. I thought for awhile about the image of it, and after my adopted Grandma had left to help with the presentation being presented, I started writing. I started with the stanzas about wrinkled hands, then I thought about other hands we see in life. The poem just started flowing onto the paper. I looked at it, and decided the stanzas were in the wrong order, so I re wrote the poem in the correct order. Later on, as I was looking back at what I had written, I felt like adding a little more. The last three stanzas were an inspired add-on that I feel fit with the rest of the poem.

Unconditional Love

Who is right for one to love?
Choosing people that we know
Just a little knowledge here
Still we love and care for them

Dearest friends of different time
People met just once but yet
Close we hold them to our hearts
For their action and their joy

Like the twinkle of a star
People found in life will shine
We may find we love them all
Though we don't know who they are

Just for shining for a day
Joy to give and laughs for all
Kind advice and cheerful words
Lit up smile to brighten you

There are people all around
Who we love for what they do
Just one day made better, good
And love pours out just like a flood

Appreciate them, who they are
Angels each with every right
Just because you don't know all
Doesn't mean you shouldn't love

Background Story:
There are a couple of class clowns that everyone knows at my school. Every school has them, they are almost a neccessity. It could be argued that class clowns are a neccessity. Their silly natures make life that much easier. I was thinking about a pair of class clowns, and I just thought, wow, I love those guys. Then I thought, wow I'm saying I love a pair of guys that I don't really know. Since the train of thought had started, I decided to continue on the track and see where it led me. I came to the conclusion that there are some people you just have to love in life. Love them for being themselves, and making your day brighter.
